How do I support a friend who's struggling with their mental health without overstepping?

The line between supportive and overstepping is usually about who's driving; offer, don't push, and let them set the pace.
Overstepping tends to happen when we try to manage someone else's problem for them: booking their appointments, texting their therapist's number unprompted, checking in so often it feels like surveillance.
Supportive looks more like: making it clear you're available, asking what would actually help rather than assuming, and being consistent without being constant.
A few things that keep it on the right side of the line:
Ask "what do you need right now?" instead of deciding for them
Respect if they're not ready to act on it yet
Keep showing up even if nothing changes quickly
Give them something they can act on privately, in their own time
If you want to give them a way in without pressure, Ark is something you can send rather than push they choose if and when to use it.
